New horizons and ownership for the community
The vast majority of Obsidian’s community moved to ODIN from July 2018. The ODIN Blockchain freely distributed ODIN coins via a pre-planned ‘airdrop’. We saw an uptake in many of our community members getting involved in design, development, and support for ODIN. It was exciting to see this in action, as a core goal of Obsidian was to enable the community to have involvement across all areas, and the community saw a lot of parallels with ODIN’s ethos and increasingly expansive roadmap.
Many community members are also now involved in the separate ODIN project, a proof-of-stake blockchain based on Bitcoin technologies. The ODIN community continues to develop and the team was recently approved by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to operate as an official non-profit co-operative.
We are very pleased to see how the ODIN vision is evolving and vastly extending our original fulfilled vision at Obsidian of an encrypted, anonymous messenger. ODIN Society released an anonymous messenger on Google Play with an iOS app in development (and much more coming soon).
We look forward to what the future will bring!
